  Zoo time and silly things

  i sent an e-mail tonight that got me all nostalgic.

  when i was in my late teens myself and two or three others from the kh would go over to forest park in ft. worth, usualy winding up at the zoo, it was free back then.

  all of us being jws we had a lot of pent up energy and would invent games to play, which often involved chasing each other around with water pistols, this we did at the zoo.. we had another past time.

  I am just now getting stories from my sons about the antics they and their JW friends were up to as teens .

  So far they have shared :

  They pulled each other on sleds behind their cars , stole yard holiday decorations , rolled bowling balls down hilly streets in subdivisons . A few snuck into the local pool and swam at night . Under age drinking ....once they soaked a whole bottle of vodka into a watermelon and then ate it and got sick . Wandering around rural cemetaries at night playing hide and seek . Climbing cell phone tower !

  I am sure they have more stories ....just not ones Mom will ever hear

  Were you Stalked or Chased After Once you Exited the JW's by Elders ?

  i tried to fade off the map by moving 30 miles initially in 2004 after i exited in late 2003 .

  the first several years they didn't bother me.

  i ran into a elder from my former congregation in late 2005 in an antique store - he tried telling me i was wrong for stopping attending meetings.

  They started to ,but because I had read so much on here I knew 'to nip it in the bud '.

  After a sheparding call were I honestly explained how I truly felt about going back to meetings, the Elders started calling and stopping by uninvited . Then they started getting information from someone that I had youtube videos saved to favorites that were apostate in nature . So the phone calls increased with them leaving messages that 'they needed to talk to me asap" .

  I told an Elder to inform the rest of the body I had no desire to answer any questions about my life to them . I told him to let all the Elders know I no longer wanted phone calls or visits . When this was ignored I went to the police ,and filed a letter requesting the Elders to cease harrassment . One letter was put in a police file the other was sent to the Body of Elders . That same day I recieved an invitation to a JC .....that letter was also given to the police and the officer promised to personally call the Elders and explain what NO CONTACT meant .....So far it has worked

  I have no idea if they have officially declared me DA'd ,but I think they are waiting for a more outward appearance of disassociation ...like me decorating my house for Christmas .

  then their daughter was the girl that had to wait on us ...she was nice ,but clearly we are just another customer now ....... when we sat down to eat my husband had a smirk on his face ,i said , "what .....you laughing because i am invisible now ??

  Ziddina _ I WISH that was my house ! That was actually another persons yard in town ....I keep saying that is what our house is going to look like this winter !

  ZID ...thank you I love being sparkely in fact I love it so much I want to share with everyone on my block (including the six witness families just how Sparkely I can be ! )

  

  Seriously , thank you all for being so supportive . I really didn't think this incident got to me .....but of course it hurts ....this couple use to be considered some of our BEST friends .. I have always treated hurt by laughing it off or making a joke ,but deep down hurt is hurt . I guess that sends the wrong message to my husband ,maybe this would be a good time to have a heart to heart talk about how I really feel .

  I agree serenitynow it was rude, and it would have been nice to have him point that out to them ,alas that isn't my life ..

  Actually it probably caught my husband off guard ,this is the first time he has experienced the shunning I get all the time . I have told him it has been going on for quite a long time to me .

  Whenever the witnesses see me at the store or around town they run the other way . Most of the time people still say hi to him so he doesn't really get how crappy it feels , now maybe he will think about it and the next time he will speak up for me .....I can at least hope so

  He loves being the 'poor' husband married to the wicked woman

  My husband and I just went to Subway for lunch . We park right next to the truck of the Elder that came questioning me earlier this summer . As we walk in the door , he is there holding it open for another customer . As we enter he looks over me and says Hi to my husband ....then a few seconds later his wife comes around the corner and says "OH HI (stating my husbands name and clearly not saying mine ) Well maybe he is just making sure he is following the cease contact letter to it's fullest extent !

  Then their daughter was the girl that had to wait on us ...she was nice ,but clearly we are just another customer now ......

  When we sat down to eat my husband had a smirk on his face ,I said , "What .....you laughing because I am invisible now ??" ,

  ' YEP '.....he says (he can be insensitive )

  Should I remind him it is his fault he didn't keep his wife in submission ???

  This is my favorite picture for the moment .I have it hangiong on my fridge . It is a picture I took this summer while on vacation in Michigan on Lake Superior . It was such a relaxing peaceful time ....want to hold onto that feeling for as long as I can .

  this is an actually quote made by a district overseer at a convention in dekalb illinois in august of 2008...yep, no joking, swear on a holy bible...he actually said that.

  just thought about the quote and thought i should post it to share it with the fellow 'apostates' (sarcasm)..

  When I first joined my mind was truly troubled ... I had doubts and fears , but still held in because of guilt . I was also afraid of how my adult children and witness husband would respond to my choice to leave the witness religion .

  I took a deep breath and just made my decision to quit, mainly for my own sanity ......and thankfully things have turned out pretty well after all .

  My mind is much less troubled these days
